searching for a phrase:

Enclose it in quotes
"These are the souls that try men's times"∞ - Find pages that contain that exact phrase

Synonyms:

Use the tilde (~) infront of the word
ruby ~tutorials∞ - find pages that have ruby tutorials, guides, help, etc

Exclude a word:

Place a - in front of the word you want to exclude.
falcon -ford∞ - Will search for the word falcon on pages that dont have the word ford on them.

Phrase completion/anyword:

Use the asterisk (*) character
The capitol of * is Raleigh∞ - Will return the capital of North Carolina is Raleigh

Range

Use double dots(..) to search for a range of numbers
200..300 homeruns∞ will search for pages that have information with numbers between 200 and 300 and the word homeruns

Special Operators

Usage operator:value no space

site

Limits the result to a certain site
site:cnn.com lunenburg∞ - Will search just cnn.com for "Lunenburg"

filetype

Returns the specific fileextension (Do not include the period)
filetype:jpg simpsons∞ - Will return jpgs of the simpsons. Can also be used with PDF, doc, etc.

link

Returns page that link to a specific page
link:i40.com∞ - returns pages that link to i40.com.

cache

Returns the cached version of the page
cache:http://i40.com/Home/∞

intitle

Returns pages with the term in the documents title
intitle:i40∞ - returns pages with i40 in the title

inurl

Returns pages with the term in the documents URL
inurl:log∞ - returns pages with log in the url.
