Setting up MySQL
Setting up MySQL is very easy. From cPanel->MySQL
- Add the Database by typing in it's name and clicking on Add Db
Note: The Database name will have Accountname_ appended to the front of it. So if you add the database named 'wiki' it will be called Accountname_wiki this is to keep the names unique accross all shared hosts.
- Add a Database user and password by typing in their name and clicking on Add User
Note: the Database Username will also have Accountname_ appended to the front of it. So if you add the database user name 'joe' it will be Accountname_joe. this is to keep the names unique accross all shared hosts.
- You need to grant priviledges to your new user. Right above where you add a new database are two drop down boxes. One with users, and one with Databases. Choose the new database, and the new user make sure "all" is checked and click on Add User to Db
If you scroll around on the cPanel->mySQL page you will see it even gives you the EXACT PHP and PERL connection strings to connect to your new database.
